Snapshot Release 7.4 Enhancements
The Snapshot Version
7.4 release was designed to address the specific needs of users with
large configurations. Snapshot 7.4 can support an unlimited number
of devices, avoiding the inconvenience of duplication error checking
and manual integration for multiple analysis runs. Key performance
Enhancements in Snapshot 7.4 include:
Large Configuration Support
Key features were
added to address the special requirements inherent in large
configuration, IT environments. These enhancements improve
Snapshot's functionality to manage an unlimited number of devices,
allowing it to effectively handle the largest IT footprints in the
marketplace today including integrated multiple datacenter
configurations. The new interface supports extensive data
collections with more efficient speed (can scan up to 500+
devices/hour).
Auto Restart Functions
The new auto-restart
function, with user defined settings, will automatically restart
data collection if a thread or operation times out or stops
unexpectedly. Snapshot will log the event and send the user an
e-mail alert, allowing the user to monitor error event and take
further action, such as, reducing the number of threads in the event
that multiple restarts are occurring.
Email Alerts and Reporting
Snapshot allow users
to create custom policy defined, rules based collections that adhere
to their company's specific IT policies and guidelines. It will
automatically notify users of the collection status with these
policy based, defined rules for discovery and inventory scans.
Data Collection Status
This new user defined
alert will provide e-mail updates on the status of the data
collection. Contained within the body of the e-mail is a high level
summary of the collection status. A more detailed report is provided
in the e-mail as an Excel document attachment. Removal of duplicate
devices and inclusion of discovery lists Snapshot will automatically
remove duplicate devices scanned, discovered, and inventoried in
both the agent-less discovery and inventory processes. This
guarantees the accuracy and reliability of the discovery and
inventory processes and reports.
User Interface (GRID) Software
The new version of
the User Interface (GRID) software was updated and has a much higher
screen refresh rate. Since Snapshot is a multi-threaded program,
simultaneous screen updates are occurring throughout the collection
process. The faster screen refresh rate provides a more accurate
real time view of the status of the discovery and inventory
processes; enables GRID to work more efficiently with the collection
processes which enables the GRID to use fewer CPU and RAM resources.
Master Discovery List
A Master Discovery
List report was added that enables the user to correlate which
devices were discovered versus which ones data collection was
completed against. This useful report allows users to review, at any
time, the overall status of Snapshot's discovery and inventory
process.
